2019 NASM: Celebrating, Calibrating & “Unleashing the Inner You”

The significance of the 2019 North American Sales Meeting revolved around the people who were in attendance. For the first time in company history, not only was there representation from the US and Canadian AHT sales teams, but the Surgical team as well. Additionally, there was an attendee from the International team who came to accept his Rookie of the Year award (read on for more information about all of the award winners!).

Building upon a theme that was presented at the 2018 AHT National Sales Meeting, the theme for this year’s event remained as Be Phenomenal. However, the subtheme, “Unleash the Inner You” was also introduced and emphasized throughout. This specific messaging was applicable to all attendees and touched upon each individual being the very best version of themselves.

Talks from John Nosenzo, Tony Bihl, Dave Varner, Winnie Weitsen and newly appointed Vice President of Sales – Phil Stead kicked off the meeting and covered a wide variety of topics. Those in the audience were enlightened on both the current and future state of Bioventus.

Tone From the Top

The presenters took the opportunity to ensure a proper tone for the meeting and remind attendees of the high ethical expectations and standards established by Bioventus. The key message to the audience came through loud and clear, “We cannot succeed, in sales or as an organization, unless we are compliant and ethical in all our actions!” Our Chief Compliance Officer Winnie Weitsen explained that it is never okay for anyone to substitute their judgement in violation of an established policy or procedure.  She asked anyone facing a challenge to “raise your hand” for help and not work around expectations or standards.  Each of the presentations described the healthy culture Bioventus is committed to nurturing – A Culture of Compliance and Integrity.

Breakouts and Networking

From there, breakouts amongst the various sales teams began. The phenomenal launch of DUROLANE was toasted, literally, whereas the Surgical team jumped right into a series of breakout sessions. Outside of product breakouts for attendees, personal development sessions were also offered and focused on everything from productivity hacks to personal safety. The combination of the breakouts and the electives highlighted the subtheme of Unleash the Inner You, focusing on each person being the best in their personal and professional lives.

Also included at the North American Sales Meeting was a tradeshow that allowed NASM attendees to network with those in cross functional roles, as well as their peers. Guests rotated through a variety of booths, while noshing on snacks, to speak to those teams and departments who work to support the activity of those in the field.

The meeting featured a motivational message from two-time Olympian and American long distance runner and SUPARTZ FX user, Kara Goucher. Through her love of running she discovered that obstacles are meant to be overcome and that persevering through challenges can result in life’s most rewarding moments. Throughout her humble message, it was easy to see that Kara Goucher has personified the statement Unleash the Inner You through her tremendous achievements in the running world, as well as her philanthropic work.

Last but not least, the North American Sales Meeting concluded with the annual Awards night. This festive occasion was highlighted by the presentation of a variety of Marketing sponsored awards, as well as the highly coveted President’s Club. See below for a full recap of all award winners.
