Employee Resource Groups Activating at Bioventus
A key part of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Council’s purpose is to encourage all employees at Bioventus to participate and be accountable in the integration of DE&I into all aspects of the work done at Bioventus. One way we will activate this purpose is by setting up more Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), which are voluntary, employee-led groups of employees who come together in their workplace based on shared characteristics or life experiences. ERGs are generally based on providing support, enhancing career development, and contributing to personal development in the work environment.
“In order to gauge interest in potential ERGs, we conducted a survey and received feedback from employees across the company, said Jessica Dill Gidney, DE&I ERG Lead. “Based on the results of the survey, we will be launching three ERGs.”
Broadly categorized these are:
- Multi-generational – With five generations of employees working side by side, we all bring diverse skills, opinions, experiences and knowledge to Bioventus. This ERG will focus on increasing understanding of generational similarities and differences to optimize inclusion.
- Black & African American – This ERG will focus on promoting the growth, success, and retention of Bioventus’ Black & African American employees.
- Neurodiversity – This ERG will champion neurodiversity at Bioventus to create an inclusive workplace for minds of all kinds and increase focus on mental health and wellness.
“The DE&I Council will organize interest meetings for each ERG so keep an eye out for meeting invites and once formed the ERGs will select a name, leaders and plan events with support and guidelines from the Council,” said Kimberly Cox, Council Chairperson.
There were many excellent ideas on potential ERGs. After the launch of these ERGs and the DE&I leader is hired, the framework and support will be in place to launch additional ERGs. ERGs under future consideration include LGBTQ+, Latinx/Hispanic, Working Parents and expanding Women in Leadership.
