A Watch Out from IT Security: Use of Bioventus email addresses at non-Bioventus Approved Sites

IT security recently learned more than 30 Bioventus email addresses were discovered in security breaches at websites that are not Bioventus approved.

As policy and practice, we do not allow the use of a Bioventus email address at non-approved websites. This is for the protection of the company. Approved websites are those that we have agreements with for the protection of our data and environment. The other websites you may visit and patronize using your Bioventus email address do not have that same agreement to protect our data.

Some of the websites recently breached include:

  • Animal Jam
  • Home Chef
  • Minted
  • 123RF
  • Mathway
  • Onemedplace
  • Nitrocloud

Some of the information included in these breaches include the following:

Email addresses, Geographic locations, IP addresses, Names, Partial credit card data, Passwords, Phone numbers, and Physical addresses.

Using your Bioventus email address for non-Bioventus sites is a violation of the Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy on Page 5 of 7 regarding conducting personal business with a Bioventus email address. Please refrain from this practice as it allows the malicious actors to have information on the workings of our Bioventus environment.
