Bioventus is Public. Great News! Email addresses are changing too! An IT Security Update
by Kerry LeBlanc, IT Security Analyst ([email protected])
It has been a long time coming for both of these and they are both welcome news. There are so many things to consider and of course, security is near the top for Bioventus.
Guess who else is interested in the news of us going public? The bad guys, that’s who. Now that the Bioventus name and brand is going to be heard around the world on the Nasdaq, it becomes even more important to do what we can to protect that awesome name and brand. We all have a part to play and Bioventus employees are the best at it in my experience.
You all do awesome when I try to fool you with emails. You are also doing great reporting emails that appear suspicious. I wish I could respond to everyone, but since everyone in the company forwards me their spam (and you think you get a lot?) There just isn’t enough time to let each of you know when you have saved the day! But when you send a suspicious email that really could have been bad, I like to let you know.
We have had multiple instances of emails that could have done very serious damage being stopped not by the latest and greatest security tool, but by you. The ones at the computer that took that extra second before clicking. The ones that took a second look. So far YOU have stopped emails with infections, emails that tried to steal money by having us change accounts, emails that try to get your login credentials and many that just are a nuisance. Thank you!!
Something to remember with this change to our email addresses is the policy for acceptable use did not change. Conducting personal business via Bioventus email or forwarding your Bioventus email to a non-Bioventus, personal email account is still expressly forbidden by the policy. This includes signing up for non-Bioventus related websites. Just do not do it.
It is also important for us to keep our computers up to date so please remember to get on the VPN a few times a month and restart those computers so we can stay safe from viruses out there in more ways than one!
