All,
Last week’s American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) was probably the largest trade show in several years in our industry. For a public company the interest around Bioventus was more pronounced as we had not only surgeon customers but also many analysts, bankers, media and other parties stop by our booth. The Bioventus booth looked amazing and congratulations to the team that worked on this new design, it presented the company so well!
While I am an admittedly a little biased, Bioventus was one of the most interesting and exciting companies at the meeting with the most energy and a large number of surgeon visitors. Our booth at AAOS exemplifies a microcosm of all that is great about our company and our culture. I wish every employee at Bioventus could have had the opportunity to attend this meeting for a short period of time and see the interaction with our customers and the passion and commitment of all of our employees as well as the strong surgeon interest!
Across the three days of the meeting the following was evident throughout:
- Terrific teamwork between sales, marketing, medical affairs, market access, product development, R&D, communications, investor relations and business development! Our booth was cohesive and handoffs of customers from person to person worked without a hitch evident of how we work together as a company. We had our absolute BEST sales and marketing people interacting with all of our customers and you cannot get much better than that.
- No surgeon had to ask the proverbial “what is new?” question as it was right in front of them! The Stimrouter and Misonix Ultrasonic BoneScalpel were a hit for many customers who were seeing and hearing about those products for the first time. We also had good interest across our portfolio including Bone Graft Substitutes, Exogen and our HA product line up. We had our Advanced Rehab team at the booth to discuss products like the L300 Go in orthopedics.
- The leadership from the front was evident as we had critical leaders from sales, marketing, market access, medical affairs, R&D, investor relations and business development leading our efforts during the meeting which is so critical for our company at this stage of growth and development.
- Most importantly, the team far exceeded expectations as we overachieved on product leads generated getting well over 300…..the meeting should pay for itself shortly as we follow up on these. There were also key customer meetings and dinners throughout the week.
A special thank you to Mike Bauer, our trade show manager, who was doing his last meeting and is retiring. Congratulations! You went out with a bang Mike and terrific job to you and the team!
Have a terrific week!
