Memphis EXOGEN Team Re-purposes Returned Devices for Demo Units
Always looking for new ways to market our established, yet market leading and effective LIPUS product, in 2018, US AHT marketing inquired about the possibility of creating EXOGEN units for use as demonstration devices for physician offices. What followed was a great example of some teamwork and cost efficient operations.
“Marketing reached out to me and requested my team make some demo devices but the cost to create them with new components was prohibitive,” said Kevin Tanis Director Product Development and Engineering. “So we worked up a plan to use returned devices that would otherwise be destined for e-waste disposal.”
The process was initially very slow. Then the work got a boost from some additional team members from EXOGEN production.

“They were available while the EXOGEN production line computers and conveyors were being updated,” said Kevin.
“In addition to saving the e-waste disposal fees, the overall benefit of using the return devices versus new components has saved Bioventus over $72,000,” reports Kevin.
Even though we have not spoken much about it, word has leaked out about this and there is some excitement around the initiative,” said Derek Hurdle, Director of US Marketing. “We expect to roll out the demo EXOGEN units program in mid-July at the POA meetings.”
POA stands for Plan of Action, which at the midyear point allows for course correction should territory or account plans not be working as well as planned, or if things are working well, how some additional focus can drive greater results.
Details on the POAs will be sent out by US Marketing in the coming weeks.
