Misonix Integration Update #1: A Busy Beginning

By Brooke M. Farrar, Direct Commercial Engagement

The start of 2022 represented the beginning of a new year, as well as the official kickoff of activity tied to the full immersion and integration of Misonix. Throughout the course of this year, our goal is to provide bi-monthly updates on the progress of integration milestones. Be sure to pay attention for the updates from Bioventus News, as well as checking out the Misonix Integration page on Bionet, which will be updated frequently.

So, what defines a busy beginning? In January, shortly after the holiday break, a handful of announcements were made in regards to updating our organizational structure to fully support and embrace our new peers at Misonix. This included:

  • The establishment of a hybrid Surgical Solutions team, comprised of the original Bioventus Distributor team, as well as the Direct team from Misonix.
  • The addition of the Wound Team to the Active Healing Therapies team, joining the Restorative Therapies, Pain Treatment and PNS selling teams.
  • The introduction of Shared Services, with roles that are commercially focused across all teams/brands.
  • The change in reporting lines for Quality, Regulatory and Operations respective to our new executive leadership.

Additionally, inside of the first month of 2022, all Misonix employees were enrolled into the Bioventus payroll system, as well as our T&E platform (Concur) and were fully integrated into Workday as a part of the existing Bioventus organizational charts. If you would like to seek out a member of the Bioventus team, please refer to the attached instructions.

Early in February, the commercial members from Misonix experienced their very first Bioventus Sales Meeting (BSM). The meeting was virtual, but the impact was real! From General Sessions, with presentations from Ken Reali, John Nosenzo and Katrina Church, to specialized breakouts and training sessions, the entire Misonix team had their first taste of a Bioventus BSM.

Shortly after the BSM, the entire Misonix organization underwent an exhaustive migration as it relates to Bioventus email access and the launch of all related business apps. We recognize that migrations of this nature can be challenging, but kudos to Anthony Frisa, for being an incredible resource of knowledge for the Misonix team during this IT exercise. One final aspect to the email migration and all Misonix employees officially having a “@bioventus.com” email address, they also received access to order Bioventus business cards based on their team and role. The IT Service Desk (855 284 8457) remains available for all Misonix employees if they need additional assistance with their new email or mobile device.

In the middle of February, all Misonix employees were granted access to the BVision Portal. BVision is a single point of access to relevant industry news and trends – enabling all employees to gain the knowledge and insight needed to make us the global leader in active healing.

Lastly, and what has transpired most recently, was the Phase 1 Surgical Launch. The activity associated with the launch will result in a dynamic and cohesive sales team that delivers best-in-class products to our surgeons, hospitals, IDN customers and most importantly: our patients.

There were countless individuals who contributed to the “busy beginning” of the Misonix integration and we are thankful for all of their hard work! A few special call outs and recognition are in order for the following people who were instrumental in leading several critical activities inside January & February:

  • Kamali Seide – provided local IT support to individuals in Farmingdale office during email/business apps migration. His hands on support was critical!
  • Trish Turtell – heavily involved in the roll out of several key announcements (payroll, T&E, etc.); even if not responsible for them, she pitched in to answer questions.
  • Corrie Rittenhouse – in conjunction with feedback from Tretta Bush, she was responsible for the launch of Concur and worked closely with Brian Poole who did all of the IT mapping that was required.
