Red River Sales Team Adopts Families for USPS Operation Santa

The Red River Sales Team adopted 2 families this year for the USPS Operation Santa. This is the 2nd year that the Sales Team has participated.

Two families are smiling brighter this holiday season thanks to members of the Red River Sales Team and their participation in the USPS Operation Santa for the second year in a row.

“It is heartwarming to think that we are bringing a sense of hope and joy to these kids this year,” said Blake Foster, Director of Sales, US AHT, in an email. “This is always one of the highlights of the year for me, and I’m sure for many of you as well.”

Operation Santa officially began in 1912 when United States Postal Service Postmaster general Frank Hitchcock gave local Postmasters permission to reply to letters to Santa from children across the county.

This nondenominational program assists families and their children during the holiday season. It all starts with children writing their letters to Santa. The letters are sent to Santa’s workshop at 123 Elf Road in the North Pole where elves (USPS employees) remove all identifying information before uploading letters to USPSOperationSanta.com.

Potential adopters can visit the website, read letters and choose which family they would like to help. Once a letter is selected, the adopter must be vetted by completing a short registration and an ID verification. Businesses can participate in Operation Santa by having teams adopt letters.

The two adopted families have children ranging in age from toddler to 9 years old. Their wish list included books, Pokémon toys, roller blades, and a Barbie doll with accompanying clothes. Hood gathered the wish lists of the adopted families and asked her peers to choose items from the list and donate what they could.

“Our small act of kindness could have a major impact on others this holiday season,” AHT Sales Representative Morgan Hood said in an email. “I am very grateful for everyone spending time, money and effort into making this happen.”

Morgan packed the gifts and shipped them out for delivery on December 18th.

“I for one believe we make the world a better place, one thing at a time,” Blake said.
